Parking is an added luxury for many people in space scarce Tokyo. Parking spaces in central Tokyo cost anywhere from 35,000yen/month all the way up to 100,000yen/month for some properties in the town center.

There are 2 common methods cars are parked in Japan.

One is the usual standard parking most people are used to while for the other, one has to park the vehicle on a special machine and exit the vehicle before letting the machine mechanically store the vehicle in compact slots in either a separate tower or underground.
