CREATE A BANK ACCOUNT IN JAPAN

If a foreigner wishes to open a bank account at a Japanese bank, he/she will require to present his/her Alien Registration Card, the document any foreigner needs to apply for when staying in Japan for more than 90 days. A signature, an "Inkan" (stamp) and a copy of 2 recent utility bills may be required.

Japanese banks are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 15:00.
You can usually use their cash distributor up until 19:00.

Japanese banks offer automatic teller machines (ATM). ATM machine allow deposits, withdrawal and bank transfer to be made. Most of them are unavailable during the night (after 19:00), on weekends and days off. Fortunately, ATM machines have been spreading all over town (especially in convenient stores) and all a service 24/7.
